AWS reInvent 2022 is fast approaching (only two weeks away!) and I’m excited to share that I will be co-presenting with Aaron Edell and Rohit Pujari on Quicksight and the Cloud Intelligence Dashboards. Come see us on Thursday afternoon in BSI304: Optimize your AWS cost and usage with Cloud Intelligence Dashboards. I’ll be sharing the customer perspective of how we implemented these dashboards at my day job. Would love to see you there!
In addition to my own session, here are some of the sessions that I’m very much looking forward to…
NET309 – Deploy global wide area networks using AWS Cloud WAN
This will be a two hour hands-on workshop with AWS Cloud WAN, which allows you to build a global wide-area network leveraging AWS’ private backbone. I’ve been wanting to play around with this service for a while, so this one was on my must have list when session reservations opened up.
COP335 – Customize billing and cost reporting with AWS Billing Conductor
Given my FinOps leanings, I was pretty interested in this service when it launched, but there were two many features missing at launch for me to use it. I’m looking forwards to getting hands on with the service in this Builders’ Session and seeing how the service has matured since launch.
ROB304 – Building cloud-connected robot dogs and making them dance
For every re:Invent, I love to pick at least one session that is completely outside my normal day job responsibilities. I think this is one of the best aspects of the conference, getting hands on and learning about services that you would never encounter as part of your everyday work. This two hour workshop on designing dance routines and deploying them to a robot dog via AWS IoT Greengrass should be a lot of fun!
SVS306 – Serverlesspresso: Building an event-driven application from the ground up
I’m an absolute espresso nerd, so this workshop on building a coffee ordering serverless application was a must for me.
NET324 – Manage your network using infrastructure as code
This builders’ session combines two topic areas that I expect to be working with a lot in 2023: Terraform and AWS Transit Gateway. Should be interesting and informative.
KEY005 – Dr. Werner Vogels Keynote
Dr. Vogels is the CTO of Amazon.com such a thought provoking speaker. Over my five prior re:Invents, his keynote has consistently been the most interesting and entertaining. Rather than barreling through a list of new product announcements, his keynotes are always more focused on application development trends and best practices around deploying world class cloud infrastructure. Whether you watch this in person or stream from the comfort of your hotel room, this one should not be missed.
So what sessions are you most looking forward to? Share them in the comments below. If you see me at re:Invent, don’t hesitate to say hi!
